In just two weeks Melbourne’s Flagstaff Gardens will be inundated by babes on bikes for the sixth annual Autumn Tournament – making it Australia’s longest running annual bike polo tourney!
Polo players are flying in from all around Australasia to compete over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of May, from 9am until about 5pm. Spectators are welcome to come and watch at any time, but the fastest and most exciting games will be played during the finals on the Sunday afternoon.
Each evening, after the tournament games have finished, there will be some informal games, tunes and boogie – all are welcome.
Registration is now open if you want to play in the tournament. If you don’t have a team of three players don’t worry, Melbourne Bike Polo will be able to hook you up with some peeps.
There will be a Polo Cafe open for the weekend where you will be able to buy delicious baked goods and caffeine-filled refreshments.
If you have never played bike polo before check out the Melbourne Newbie Bike Polo Facebook group, they usually play in Princes Hill every Wednesday evening. It is a good opportunity to try out bike polo in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
